The 1970s were a recognizable and unique decade in fashion, from voluminous hairdos, to clashing colors, to those massive jeans. Seriously, somebody needed to tell them that their jeans were too big.
And while some of the most iconic fashions came out of the 1970s, there are plenty of trends we're glad they left behind. Here are 15 fashion disasters, all thanks to the 1970s.

1. Bell Bottoms
Loose fitting pants can be cool… but why are the bottoms sooooo wide? It’s like there’s a second leg in there. -

Every progressive college student these days likes to pretend they’re a hippie. You’re not. Come up with your own ideas, and your own edgy fashion ideas. -

In the 1970s, many suits switched from using real fabrics to polyester. Colorful? Yes. Timeless? Absolutely not. -

I’m not anti-fun pants, but you better have a nice behind if you’re going to rock some form fitting colorful fabric. -

It might be colorful, but it’s not useful. One snag and that suit will be ruined. -

An easy way to look like a hippy, with just a hint of cultural appropriation. -

For some reason, nobody ever wants their jeans to look new. It all started in the 70s. -
19. Leather Pants
They might look cool, but at the sacrifice of flexibility and breathability. Wear these for a night out, and the smell underneath will be rancid by the end. -
20. Showing off the “Bulge”
We all know it’s there, (hopefully), so go ahead and get some more comfortable pants and spare us.
